At the core of C’est Halal Gourmet is Chef Serge, a Belgian-born culinary expert with over 20 years of experience specializing in French and Italian cuisine. Having honed his craft in some of Brussels’ finest specialty restaurants, his passion for authentic European flavors runs deep.
Chef Serge’s journey took an unexpected yet beautiful turn when he embraced Islam after marrying his Malaysian wife. Excited to start a new chapter in Malaysia, he was eager to explore the local food scene—but soon realized a challenge.
As a chef, Serge was eager to explore the local food scene, but he quickly noticed that lasagna, hachis parmentier, and other classic European comfort foods were either hard to find or only available in expensive fine-dining restaurants. What was common in Europe felt like a luxury in Malaysia.
This gap in the market sparked an idea. He wanted to bring real, handcrafted European flavors to Malaysians—without the premium price tag.
With C’est Halal Gourmet, Chef Serge is on a mission to make authentic halal French-Italian cuisine accessible to everyone. Every dish is prepared with the same precision and passion as those served in Brussels, using only the finest halal ingredients.
